Introduction
On the 9th of October 2025 been Thursday, the maskandi youngster Asavela showcases his bright future through her latest studio release which she titled "Umalume wenu"; an extended play which comprises a total of three songs with notable collaborations from the likes of Shenge wasehlalankosi, Mjolisi, Mjabulisi who are regular artists in the Zulu music genre in the past few years.
About the Artist, Asavela (Brief Bio of Asavela)
Who is this artist who linked up with not just the most featured maskandi music artist, but also two other big names in the history of maskandi? The female singer whose real name reads Asavela Mqokiyana (née Asavela Mngqithi) with her birth quoted to be "4 June 1996" is not only a singer but also actress and model.
She has attended and performed outstandingly at different shows such as Isibaya, Abomama, Durban Gen, and Uzalo. Her first recognition was as Ntwenhle in Isibaya (2018–2021). Although she looks so young like a teen but she is 29 years as at 2025.
She got married in 2022, gave birth in 2023, divorced in 2024 which brought hr to public attention. She went for a brief hiatus focusing on motherhood and healing from the marital issues. She later took a role of Nurse Sizakele on the show Uzalo.
This year 2025, she returned to maskandi music scene with the released of a 3 track project which form the basis for this article.

The pronounced colours on the artwork are red and white, the artist (Asavela) dressed in a traditional Zulu outfit with awesome designs around the chest region and a head band that still left her dark hair open to view. The artsit name "Asavela" is written in red colour in bold and capital case at the top part while the title of the project "Umalume wenu" is written in special fonts and in white colour at the down part of the image. In the background, we saw horizon and the natural plants.
